Redmond Travel Guide
Welcome to Redmond, OR!
Located in the Central Cascades of Oregon, Redmond is an outdoor lover's paradise, as it offers a wealth of activities. Redmond is only 17 mi (27 km) away from Bend, the state's recreation capital and home to Mt. Bachelor Ski Area. Rock climbers flock to the area for the superior ascension routes, such as the ones found at Smith Rock State Park, which lies just north of Redmond. Guides are readily available for fishing and white-water rafting excursions, two popular water-based activities supported by the city's proximity to the Deschutes River. Enjoy an evening of mystery, adventure and food with the Crooked River Dinner Train, an 1800s-style train that hosts murder mystery evenings and reenacted train robberies. Campgrounds are a favored type of accommodation in this area as they give visitors unfettered access to Oregon's wilderness. Golf is among the more tame outdoor activities in Redmond and is offered at roughly a dozen courses in the area.
